May 23rd, Psalm 44

We have heard with our ears.
Our parents and the Bible tells us the work You did in the days of old.
You drove out the nations.
You put people where you wanted them.
You afflicted people.
Then You spread them abroad.
For by You, they did not possess the land.
Their arm did not save them.
But Your right hand and arm and the light of Your presence, You favored them.

You are my King, O God.
You are the One who commands victories.
Through You we push back our adversaries.
Through Your name only will we trample down those who rise up against us.
For we are not to trust in our bow.
Nor will our sword save us.
You have put to shame those who hate You.
Let us boast in You all day long.
Let us give thanks to Your name forever.
Yet You have rejected us and brought us to dishonor.
You do not go with our armies.
You cause us to turn back from the adversary.
Those who hate us have taken spoil for themselves.
You have feed them.
You have scattered us.
You sell Your people cheaply.
You have not profited by their sale.
You make us a reproach to our neighbors.
You make us a scoffing and a derision to those around us.
You make us a by word among the people.
You make us a laughingstock among the people.
All day long our dishonor is before us.
Because of the voice of him who reproaches and reviles.
Because of the presence of the enemy and the avenger.

All this has come upon us, but we have not forgotten You.
And we have not dealt falsely with Your covenant.
Our heart has not turned back.
And our steps have not deviated from Your way.
Yet You have crushed us in a place of jackals.
And covered us with the shadow of death.
If we had forgotten the name of our God.
Or extended our hands to a strange god,
Would not God find this out?
For He knows the secrets of the heart.
but for Your sake we are killed all day long.
We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
Arouse Yourself, why do You sleep, O Lord?
Awake do not reject us forever.
Why do You hide Your face.
Why do You forget our affliction and our oppression?
For our soul has sunk down into the dust.
Our body cleaves to the earth.
Rise up, be our help.
Redeem us for the sake of Your loving kindness.

We must hear these things but I don't really like this Psalm too much because it talks about how horrible it was for them but it is a fact that sometimes bad things happen to good people and this too is in the Lords hands and part of His plan.  We must trust Him in all things at all times.  He is trustworthy.  Sometimes I want to stomp my feet and say why Lord but then I remember who He is and that He can do as He pleases.  I also remember that everything He does is out of His love for us.  Also, He gets blamed for many things that are really our own fault, or because of our sin.  Which He has warned us will cause us and those around us pain and misery if we do them.  I am not saying when bad things happen it is because of sin or someone else's sin because it may not be.  I am getting off the subject.  Have a great day!!!
